“I strongly believe that Model United Nations is a great educational tool for engaging in high-quality discussion on global issues and for developing skills such as critical thinking and public speaking. At the Oxford-Kyushu Model United Nations, we see mistakes as an essential part of learning and seek to provide an inclusive environment for immersive, liberal, and dynamic learning. While both participants and the secretariat faces challenges and difficulties, it is exactly these challenges that makes OKMUN so valuable and rewarding experience for everyone involved. I can’t wait to see all of you at the camp in August!”

“I am sure that OKMUN will be a good chance to learn how Model United Nations works and what’s happening in the world. This year as Director-General, my role is to ensure the smooth running of the conference and work closely with the Secretary-General.

Last year, I was a member of the Logistics Team and learned a lot from participants from both outside and inside Japan. OKMUN will offer you not only the skills to participate in MUN but also the chance to make friends with students from diverse backgrounds. As we place our emphasis on learning rather than treating MUN as a competition, you don’t have to worry if you feel you lack experience in MUN. It is okay to make mistakes during this camp. It is more important to challenge yourself even if you are in difficult situation. We will make the greatest effort to get rid of barriers to communication such as lack of confidence when speaking in public. I hope you will all be able to get new perspectives and be motivated by participating in this camp!”

“The Education Team is responsible for the content-side of the OKMUN experience. This year, the Education Team has been busy with everything from designing workshops that focus on developing the soft skills necessary for Model United Nations, to finalizing the global issues that delegates will be debating on at OKMUN Camp. We greatly look forward to seeing the workshops and committee debates come to life in August!”

Yoshiaki Honda

“The Publicity Team has been promoting the camp and informing potential participants of what makes OKMUN a unique learning-by-doing experience. This has involved day-to-day use of Facebook and Twitter as well as updating the website! The Publicity Team is also responsible for producing photo and video content during the camp as well as being the first point of contact for delegates. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at delegate@okmun.org!”
